Albert Haynesworth’s half brother dies in motorcycle crash

The half brother of Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was killed in a motorcycle crash in Nashville, police said.

Lance McCoy, 23, was speeding Thursday night when his motorcycle collided with a car pulling out of a parking lot, police said. The police’s preliminary investigation found McCoy’s excessive speed was the main cause of the crash.

The car’s driver, Benjamin Smith, 27, of Nashville, told police he didn’t see the motorcycle until impact.

Haynesworth is a former Tennessee Titan. His half brother was from Madison, which is about seven miles north of Nashville.

Haynesworth’s agent said Friday that he had no comment. Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said Haynesworth had left to spend time with his family in Nashville.

“Obviously, what he’s going through right now is paramount,” Shanahan told reporters. “We’re giving him and his family all of our prayers and thoughts. I think that’s the main concern right now.”

League checks claims against Favre

The NFL is reviewing allegations involving Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre, who has been accused on an Internet website of sending racy messages and photos to a former sideline reporter while he played for the New York Jets in 2008.

“We are reviewing the matter,” league spokesman Greg Aiello said when asked about reports that a person alleged to be Favre sent voice mails and lewd pictures to Jenn Sterger.
