T.C. Boyle will publish two upcoming novels with Ecco, the publisher announced. As NPR noted, Boyle has been at Viking for three decades.

Ecco’s president and publisher, Dan Halpern, said in a statement Monday that “[f]or forty years now I’ve admired Tom’s work -- and early on published him in my magazine, Antaeus -- so it’s with real excitement that I welcome him to Ecco, where we can’t wait to expand his already wonderful readership and introduce him to a new generation of readers.”

The first of Boyle’s two novels with Ecco will be “The Harder They Come,” set for publication in March 2015.

The publisher wrote: “Set in contemporary California, ‘The Harder They Come’ explores the interlocking relationships of three damaged people -- an aging ex-Marine and Vietnam veteran, his psychologically unstable son, and the son’s paranoiac, much older lover -- as they career headlong on a collision course toward an explosive confrontation.”

Boyle, who will be appearing at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on Sunday, is a perennial bestseller and a creative writing professor at USC. His books include “The Women,” “The Road to Wellville,” “The Tortilla Curtain,” “San Miguel” and, most recently, two omnibus short-story collections.
