Grammys 2013 fashion: The year the Grammys went classy

Share

2013 will go down as the year the Grammys red carpet went classy.

The biggest fashion stars of the night proved that sometimes it’s best to leave a little to the imagination. And in the end, it wasn’t boring after all.

Exhibit 1: There is nothing sexier than Rihanna in that red-hot gown by fashion insider favorite Azzedine Alaia. At first glance, the cross-front style didn’t seem to reveal too much. But upon further inspection, the gossamer-like fabric hinted at everything. With Rihanna’s soft, wavy hairstyle and minimal makeup, it was perfection.

Beyoncé shocked us all not with deep décolletage, but by wearing a graphic black and white crepe jumpsuit by Osman Studio that played into the season’s 1960s Op Art fashion trend.

Katy Perry took inspiration from Priscilla Presley in the 1970s, wearing a long-sleeve mint green gown that was technically covered up, even if it did hug every curve tightly and thrust her cleavage front and center. (I’ll leave you to debate the classiness of this one.)

And nearly every guy who walked the red carpet was wearing Lanvin, even if he couldn’t pronounce it. Pharell Williams’ zebra-print tuxedo was my favorite.

It was certainly an interesting fashion show. And it’s not over yet.
