Kate Upton, Snoop Dogg collaborate in latest Hot Pockets remix

Kate Upton has teamed up with Snoop Lion (nee Dogg) on another bizarre musical ad for Hot Pockets.

It’s the rapper’s second foray spinning a hit song to promote the college-friendly snack. Last October, he flipped his 2004 hit song “Drop It Like It’s Hot” to promote the brand with the remix, “Pocket Like It’s Hot.” This time the company seems to be operating on the notion that the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model can sell just about anything.

In this go-round, the music video spoofs Biz Markie’s 1989 single “Just a Friend (You Got What I Need),” but they changed up the lyrics to “You Got What I Eat.”

Upton speaks very little in the psychedelic music video but grooves along to a hook that goes, “You ... you got what I eeeaaattt! / You say you’re just a baker / But you’re my Hot Pockets maker / Oh baby, you ... you Got what I eeeaaattt! / You got the hot buttery crust / I need your hot buttery crust.”

Yes, words of a hit right there.

All this ridiculous goodness is prompted by Upton telling a friend that a guy she’s dating is “just a friend,” followed by her subsequent viewing of a Snoop interview with Larry King, who also hilariously appears in the ad.

After she devours the microwaveable snack, it happens to induce an outlandishly colorful dream, which includes “Snoop’s Sky High Bakery,” sheep, butchers and a journey through a “garden of flavorful, fantastical herbs” used in the munchie-ready snack -- herbs like oregano and parsley, not Snoop’s other green of choice, though there are plenty of pot references throughout.

The song, if you can call it that, comes along with the Hot Pockets’ highly publicized relaunch, which brand manager Kevin Holmes said is the “biggest re-launch in our brand’s 30-year history.”

“I love working with the Hot Pockets sandwiches team,” Snoop said in a statement (via Ad Week). “They let me do what I do and bring the funk out with their message, you know? We needed to top ‘Pocket Like It’s Hot,’ and this video is so dope. It’s funnier, and we got the flyest girl in it with me.”

“I love the premium meats and the buttery seasoned crusts of the new Hot Pockets sandwiches,” Upton said. “I’m excited to hear which side the fans pick in this IRRESISTIBLY HOT battle!”

Indeed, the song goes on to debate the snack’s buttery crust versus its meat filling, adding the useful hashtags #teamcrust and #teammeat as a way to get users to weigh in online and on hotpockets.com.
