Katie Couric marries John Molner in backyard wedding

Katie Couric is a married woman once again! She and fiance John Molner tied the knot Saturday in New York.

The wedding was as low-key as the TV journalist had promised, People reported, with only about 50 guests on hand to witness the union, which took place in her East Hampton backyard.

“So excited to make my debut as Mrs. John Molner!,” Couric tweeted Saturday, including a wedding-day picture of herself and her new hubby.

“This is not my first rodeo so I didn’t want to go too crazy and neither did John,” she told the magazine in advance of the big day.

Couric wore a white Carmen Marc Valvo sleeveless gown and Molner donned a dark suit for the event, according to Us Weekly, which had additional pictures from the big day. Three girlfriends donned somewhat match-matchy hot-pink dresses in one photo -- dare we guess -- bridesmaids? Or simply women who were similarily inspired when they were all staring into their closets Saturday morning?

The groom’s nieces and nephews were flower girls and ring bearers.

Couric was widowed in 1998, after her first husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer. From her first marriage she has two daughters, Ellie, 22, and Carrie, 18, while Molner has two kids as well, Allie and Henry. All four did readings Saturday, People said.

Couric, 57, and finance guy Molner, 51, started dating in 2011 and got engaged last September.

With “CBS Evening News With Katie Couric,” which she anchored from 2006 into 2011, the bride was the first solo female anchor on a broadcast network’s nightly newscast. The former “Today” show co-host’s syndicated chat show “Katie” taped its last new episode in June. Last November, she was hired by Yahoo to be its “global anchor.” She debuted on the website in January.
