Chloe Grace Moretz is on a mission to take back the Earth from alien invaders in “The 5th Wave.”

Based on the YA science fiction novel by Rick Yancey, “The 5th Wave” stars Moretz as Cassie, a teenager who has survived four waves of attacks from aliens known as the Others.

As Cassie explains in the trailer, the first wave knocked out all the power on the planet. The second wave brought devastating earthquakes. The third wave spread deadly diseases among the remaining population. And in the fourth wave, the Others started inhabiting human hosts.

If that wasn’t enough for one teenage girl to face, Cassie is desperately trying to save her younger brother, who has been taken by the Others.

Although the trailer does not give any hints to what the fifth wave of attack is going to be, we do get glimpses of Nick Robinson as Ben Parish and Alex Roe as Evan Walker, Cassie’s love interests. Because what alien invasion movie is complete without a little teen angst?

The film also features Ron Livingston and Liev Schreiber. Directed by J Blakeson, “The 5th Wave” will hit theaters Jan. 15, 2016.
