Los Angeles County Irish Fair & Celtic Music Festival The annual pre-St. Patrick’s Day celebration features more than 2,000 performers, including traditional and contemporary Celtic bands and dance groups. Pomona Quilt, Craft & Sewing Festival The 31st biannual event returns to the Pomona Fairplex. Over the course of three days, novices and experts will find plenty to outfit their projects from more than 60 sewing, quilting, needle-art and crafts exhibitor booths (offering wares by local and national companies), exhibitor seminars and an array of “Make and Take” workshops, among them, no-sew quilted wall hangings, easy stained glass and beading projects for all skill levels. Philip Glass Many people know the composer from his elegantly minimalist film scores for movies such as “Koyaanisqatsi,” “The Thin Blue Line” and “The Hours,” but he has also amassed a body of work that incorporates opera, concertos and other compositions. He’ll sit down at LACMA for an intimate conversation and performances from his opera “Akhnaten,” the final showcase in a trilogy of portrait operas that began with “Einstein on the Beach.” Glass will discuss his acclaimed work about the pharaoh with Long Beach Opera Music Director Andreas Mitisek.
