No shirt? No problem! “Best Shirtless Performance” is one of two new categories at the “2013 MTV Movie Awards,” where “Bridesmaids’” Rebel Wilson serves as mistress of ceremonies. 9 p.m. MTV, VH1

It’s hello, “Nurse Jackie,” when the Edie Falco medical dramedy returns with new episodes. And hail to the “Veep” when Julia Louis-Dreyfus, pictured, kicks off a second season of that Washington, D.C.-set political satire. 9 p.m. Showtime; 10 p.m. HBO

No shoes, no shirt, no pants? No problem! Adventurer Ed Stafford is stranded, sans clothing, on an island in the South Pacific in the three-part special “Naked Castaway.” Let’s hope he has sunscreen at least. 10 p.m. Discovery

MONDAY

It’s a science-fiction drama… and an online game. So you can watch and/or play along as Earthlings try to co-exist — or not — with several species of recently arrived extraterrestrials in the new series “Defiance.” 9 p.m. Syfy

She’s not bad, just drawn that way: Jessica Rabbit from the 1988 comedy “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” is among the “Greatest Animated Movie Characters” featured in this new special. 9 p.m. TV Guide

The New Zealand-set mystery series “Top of the Lake” and the rebooted drama “Dallas” each conclude with back-to-back episodes. 9 and 10 p.m. Sundance; 9 and 10 p.m. TNT

“Wonder Woman!” Lynda Carter discusses her role on the 1970s TV action series and the comic-book superheroine’s impact on American culture at large on a new “Independent Lens.” 10 p.m. KOCE

TUESDAY

Made in Memphis: Justin Timberlake, Queen Latifah, Cyndi Lauper and Alabama Shakes are among those paying homage to the soul music of the 1960s on a new “In Performance at the White House.” 8 p.m. KOCE

Ken Burns’ 2012 documentary “The Central Park Five” revisits the 1989 case of five African America teens who were tried and convicted — in the courts and in the media — for a shocking crime they did not commit. 9 and 11 p.m. KOCE

WEDNESDAY

End of watch: The rookie docu-series “Boston’s Finest” and the veteran cop drama “Southland” present their respective season finales. 9 and 10 p.m. TNT

They should sing solo … so low we can’t hear them. Or they should sing tenor … 10 or 11 miles away. All kidding aside, tune in as the members of a Wisconsin-show choir give it their all in the new unscripted series “Off Pitch.” 10 p.m. VH1

THURSDAY

“Which Way Is the Front Line from Here? The Life and Time of Tim Hetherington” salutes the late photojournalist who braved the battlefields of Afghanistan for the 2010 doc “Restrepo” but lost his life covering the civil war in Libya in 2011. 8 p.m. HBO

It started with an armed confrontation and ended weeks later in a deadly conflagration. The FBI’s siege of the Branch Davidian compound in Texas in 1993 is revisited in “ID Films: Inside Waco.” 10 p.m. Investigation Discovery

FRIDAY

A travel tip: If you visit the Palace of Versailles, spend less time inside and more time outside in the gardens. Or save yourself the airfare and get an armchair tour on a new “Access 360 World Heritage.” 6 p.m. Nat Geo

Kate Smith’s stirring rendition of “God Bless America” helped lift the nation’s spirits during WWII, but it was not her only hit. Singer Stephanie Blythe dips into Smith’s sizable catalog on “Live From Lincoln Center.” 9 p.m. KOCE

SATURDAY

Two women (Hilary Swank, Brenda Blethyn) who each lost loved ones to malaria join the effort to eradicate the disease in Africa in the made-for-cable drama “Mary and Martha.” James Woods also stars. 8 p.m. HBO

Mental illness is addressed from multiple angles in “Call Me Crazy: A Five Film,” featuring directorial contributions from Laura Dern, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bonnie Hunt and Ashley Judd. 8 p.m. Lifetime

Milla Jovovich was battling zombies before “The Walking Dead” was even a gleam in AMC’s eye, and she’s back at it in the 2012 action sequel “Resident Evil: Retribution.” Michelle Rodriguez also stars. 9 p.m. Starz

It takes an asteroid: Steve Carell and Keira Knightley pal around pre-apocalypse in the 2012 comedy-drama “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.” 10 p.m. Cinemax
