MOVIES

Vietnam War TCM devotes the evening to an eclectic mix of war films. Up first, at 7:15, is filmmaker Peter Davis’ 1974 documentary “Hearts and Minds,” exploring the Vietnam War through extensive interviews, combat footage and scenes illuminating and contrasting the then-current cultures in both the United States and Southeast Asia. That’s followed at 9:15 by director and star John Wayne’s bombastic “The Green Berets” (1968). At 11:45 director Michael Cimino’s “The Deer Hunter” (1978) stars Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken.
