A to Z Dan Lauria (“The Wonder Years”) plays Andrew’s (Ben Feldman) father in this new episode. 9:30 p.m. NBC

Elementary Holmes and Watson (Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu) find that a bioengineer’s murder could have big implications, and the detectives have information that they’re keeping from each other in this new episode. 10 p.m. CBS


Parenthood Many surprises await the family when Zeek and Camille (Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia) have Max (Max Burkholder) develop some newly discovered rolls of film. 10 p.m. NBC


The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Michael Strahan hosts the 20th annual ceremony honoring the finest in cinematic achievement as selected by the Broadcast Film Critics Assn., from the Hollywood Palladium. Special awards will be presented to Kevin Costner, Ron Howard and Jessica Chastain. 6, 8 and 10 p.m. A&E

The World Dog Awards The awards shows are literally going to the dogs in this event hosted by George Lopez, where the honors include TV dog, best mascot and most dog-like cat (that’s an award?). With Beth Behrs, Ian Somerhalder, Lance Bass, Andy Cohen and Lisa Vanderpump. 8 p.m. KTLA
