Want luxury L.A. labels for less? Check out Gilt’s online flash sale

Membership-based luxury flash-sale site Gilt is shining a spotlight on SoCal style during an upcoming three-day sale.

The event, which runs Aug. 6-8, will showcase a range of hometown brands, including retro-surf menswear label M.Nii, denim-based Simon Miller, eyewear maker Garrett Leight and womenswear lines Jenni Kayne and For Love & Lemons at www.gilt.com.

The event is being touted by Gilt as an “L.A. Takeover” (shouldn’t it really be a “handover”?), and the company enlisted the help of L.A.-based lifestyle blogger Marianna Hewitt to curate a sale featuring some of her favorite items from Rachel Pally, L’Agence, James Perse, Ettika and Vince.

The bad news? Gilt’s sales, which can save a savvy shopper up to 70% off the full retail price, are open only to members.

The good news? There is no bad news — since membership is free and signing up is as easy as logging in via Facebook.
