New fall 2015 fragrances inspire wanderlust

Share

A single whiff of scent has the power to launch the imagination, evoking idyllic memories, legends and fantasy lands. New fragrances out this fall are no exception.

Krigler’s Sierra Vista 2142 takes us on a trip to the Huachuca mountains in Arizona, Roads infuses its latest quartet of fragrances with elements that evoke the soul of Africa, and we travel East with Van Cleef & Arpels Ambre Impérial on what the company touts as an “imaginary amber road.”

Nostalgia in a bottle, Diptyque’s limited-edition Essences Insensées captures a recollection of the perfumer’s apron-clad grandmother picking jasmine flowers in a pastoral field in France, while fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa’s first fragrance encapsulates a childhood impression of his grandmother splashing buckets of cold water against chalky, sunbaked walls in Tunisia. New company Vilhelm Parfumerie’s Smoke Show conjures up the ambience of a jazz club, a favored destination for that fragrance-maker’s dapper grandfather.
