San Lorenzo’s Brazilian-made bikinis come to Southern California

San Lorenzo Bikinis has landed in North America, opening a flagship store at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

The company was born in Lima, Peru, in 1991 in a small sewing shop. Later it expanded production into Brazil and in 2005 ventured into Hawaii, where it now has six stores (five in Oahu and one in Maui).

The company prides itself on offering a range of quality swimsuit choices, including custom made.

The store is at 271 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach.

Events

The “Teen Party Expo” -- a showcase of goods and services that are available for teen events including bar and bat mitzvahs, sweet 16 parties, quinceñeras, Filipino debuts and proms -- is coming to the Dome at the Queen Mary from noon to 5 p.m Saturday. More than 75 vendors are expected, along with raffles and entertainment. Exhibitors will be offering deals of up to 50% off, organizers say. Admission is $10 at the door; tickets can be purchased online in advance for an additional fee. The Dome is at 1126 Queens Highway, Long Beach.

South Bay Galleria hosts Baby Loves Disco, a family-friendly dance party, from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. DJs Captain Jack and MC Alex are slated to spin music for various dance contests and interactive activities. Since this is Father’s Day weekend, there is to be a dads dance competition, too. Mini-manicures, face painting, temporary tattoos, snacks and a photo booth will also be available. The event is open to all, but it’s specifically designed for families with children 1 to 7. Opening

Luxury men’s custom footwear retailer the Left Shoe Company is set to open its first U.S. flagship store on Saturday in Los Angeles. The 1,700-square-foot space includes 3-D scanners used to measure the foot, a design studio, handcrafted shoes (prices start at $350) and a lounge with bar. The company was founded in 1998 in Finland and now has stores throughout the world. The L.A. store is at 8473D Melrose Ave. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

New boutique Bucks & Does recently opened at Sunset Junction in Silver Lake (it’s so recent, there’s no website yet). The store is owned by Jason and Laura O’Dell, who also own Porridge Clothing, a line carried by Anthropologie. The men’s and women’s boutique is at 3906 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Toms Eyewear, which helps someone in need obtain vision care for every pair of glasses it sells, is scheduled to operate a pop-up cart -- or pop cart -- through the end of August at the Americana at Brand, 889 Americana Way, Glendale. The cart will contain a selection of Toms’ regular merchandise, plus some exclusive styles. Prices range from $88 to $169.

Joie, Current/Elliott and Equipment say they are offering more than 8,000 styles for up to 75% off at their summer sample sale, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Siren Studios, 1050 N. Several designers are to participate in a sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Q by Pasquale Boutique, 5616 San Vicente Blvd., Los Angeles. They include Junker Designs (handmade clothing), Nina Savill (jewelry), Somewhere Los Angeles (fingerless gloves) and Chloe Trujillo (silk scarves based on original paintings).

Imperial Barber Products and the Mohawk General men’s store have teamed for a pre-Father’s Day event from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Master barber Pedro Zemeno is slated to provide haircuts for $40, or $55 including an Imperial Barber hair product. The shop will also launch the Imperial Barber Field Shave Kit, which costs $55 and includes a brush, glycerine shave puck canister, pre-shave oil and bergamot aftershave. The store is at 4017 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles.
