Carl’s Jr. thinks women can’t handle its meaty burgers in new ad

Share

Carl’s Jr. is letting women know that they aren’t man enough to eat its new Western X-tra Bacon Thickburger in a new ad.

In the video ad shown above, Mystique, the stealthy female changeling from “The X-Men” movies, is shown holding the new burger. But instead of digging in, she uses her super-cool mutant powers to transform into a young man.

He takes a bite and the screen reads, “Man up for two times the bacon.” He then rips out a piece of bacon, takes a bite and then transforms back into Mystique’s body.

“Eat like you mean it,” reads the next message.

So let’s pause for a moment to fully understand the implied message. If you’re a woman, you’re not fit to eat this burger. You need to literally turn into a man to consume it, and eat like you mean it.

Commenters voiced their opinions in the comments section for the video on YouTube.

“I really wanted to try this!!! I guess I will just have to enjoy watching men eat it!” writes YouTube user IamYou86. “Thanks Carl’s Jr. P.S. This is the year 2014 and women have been allowed to vote and work outside the home for many decades now. Just thought you should know.”

YouTube user Lucie Carlach was equally upset, writing, “I wanted to try this burger before seeing the ad. But it was before. Considering I am a female, it seems I won’t be capable of enjoying it for real, because I have ovaries.”

We’ve reached out to Carl’s Jr. for comment and will let you know when we hear back.

Ladies, what do you think of the new ad? Let us know in the comments below.
