“It’s very crazy,” senior Amber Muzzy told KTLA-TV. “I wouldn’t think something would happen like this.”
Graduates told the TV station that they didn’t see the error on their red diploma covers until after they accepted the diplomas on stage and posed for photographs.
“I thought it was a joke at first,” Muzzy told KTLA. “I thought it was a senior prank.”
In a statement to KTLA, Chaffey Joint Union High School District Superintendent Mat Holton said the misspelling was a printing error made by a “grad products company.”
Graduates will get a corrected diploma cover and an apology letter.
