A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Tuesday afternoon nine miles from Coalinga, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 5:31 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 6.2 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 22 miles from Avenal, Calif., 32 miles from Lemoore, Calif., and 32 miles from Mendota, Calif.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
