Earthquake: 3.9 quake strikes near Mammoth Lakes

A shallow magnitude 3.9 earthquake was reported Saturday afternoon 14 miles from Mammoth Lakes, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:24 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.1 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 67 miles from Clovis, Calif., 68 miles from Sanger and 71 miles from Reedley.

In the past 10 days, there have been two earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
