Shotgun fired at woman’s car on 5 Freeway in Atwater Village
A woman was injured on the 5 Freeway in Atwater Village Wednesday when someone pulled alongside her car and fired a shotgun, police said.
The woman called police about 6 a.m. to report that someone had opened fire on her as she exited the northbound 5 Freeway at Colorado Boulevard, said LAPD Lt. Richard Parks.
The unidentified woman was hit by several of the shotgun pellets, police said, and taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that weren’t life threatening.
Detectives are trying to determine a motive for the shooting. The only description of the shooter’s vehicle was that it was possibly a dark SUV.
The California Highway Patrol temporarily shut down the Colorado Boulevard onramp for police to investigate.
