Body found on remote trail near Laurel Canyon Park
A body was discovered Monday on a remote trail near Laurel Canyon Park, officials said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department received a call from a hiker about a person “down or injured” around 8:45 a.m., spokesman Brian Humphrey said. Air and ground crews were deployed to the scene, and discovered a person dead near the 8300 block of Mulholland Drive.
Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Dave Cueto said Monday afternoon that the person, a white man in his 50s, died of an apparent self-inflicted wound to the chest. The man has yet to be identified, and Cueto could not specify the type of wound.
“It seems to be a suicide,” he said.
The person was found about a five-minute hike from the road, Humphrey said.
