About 100 firefighters battle blaze at L.A. commercial building
About 100 firefighters were battling a fire Tuesday afternoon that was raging at a commercial building in downtown Los Angeles.
The blaze was reported about 4:20 p.m. in the building at 6th and Crocker streets.
Flames were intense, and crews on scene considered taking up defensive positions, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. But firefighters were able to get the upper hand on the blaze about 5 p.m., said firefighter David Ortiz.
He said there were no immediate reports on whether anyone was injured.
The dark smoke from the fire was visible for blocks.
