Home Depot security guard shot, another hurt in Hayward

A security guard was shot and another was pistol-whipped as they attempted to thwart a petty crime at a Home Depot in Hayward, according to local media reports.
The incident occurred shortly after noon Sunday, according to KTVU, the Bay Area television station. Local authorities could not be reached for comment.
When the suspect spotted the guards, the suspect struck one guard on the head and shot the other in the shoulder before fleeing, the station reported.
