A man wearing a long-haired wig and women’s sunglasses on Tuesday robbed a south Glendale store at gunpoint and fled with an unspecific amount of cash, police said.

The robbery occurred about 11:29 a.m. in the offices of Arko Foods International in the 1400 block of East Colorado Street, according to Glendale police.

Witnesses told police that the robber was holding a blue-steel, semi-automatic handgun in his right hand and pulled the slide back several times as he repeatedly demanded cash from the store’s employees.

One of the employees told the robber that they didn’t have money, police said.

The robber reportedly told the employees to remain calm because he didn’t want to hurt them. He eventually fled after securing an unspecific amount of cash.

He was described as 25 to 30 years old, Filipino, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 165 pounds. The man was wearing a woman’s large white sunglasses, a long-haired brown wig, a gray sweater with buttons and dark slacks.

Police said the incident was unrelated to a separate robbery reported last week at a Vons on Foothill Boulevard.

In that incident last Friday, a gun-wielding man robbed a Vons cashier of a few hundred dollars before fleeing the store.

The man reportedly approached the cashier about 7:30 p.m. in the store in the 3200 block of Foothill Boulevard, revealed a handgun in his waistband and demanded money.

He was described as black or Latino, about 5 feet 11 inches tall with a large build and shoulder-length dark hair. The man was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt, tan pants and a black “L.A. Dodgers” baseball cap.
