A 35-year-old teacher at Valencia High School in Placentia was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female student repeatedly over a four-year period.

Rebecca Eileen Diebolt was taken into custody in a shopping center parking lot on East Imperial Highway in the City of Brea, according a statement from the Placentia Police Department.

She was booked at the Orange County Jail and being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The investigation began on June 4 when the alleged victim told police she had a sexual relationship with Diebolt from 2004 to 2008 while she was a student, police said.

The victim said she became friends with Diebolt when she was about 15 years old. That relationship eventually turned sexual, police said.

The victim told police that she and Diebolt had multiple sexual encounters both in Diebolt’s classroom and at her home, according to a news release.

According to the victim, the sexual relationship continued after graduation and while she attended college as an adult.

Detectives were trying to determine if there were any additional victims.
