Pedestrian killed after being struck by Metrolink train in Santa Clarita
A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a Metrolink train in Santa Clarita on Friday morning, authorities said.
The man was crossing the tracks near Soledad Canyon Road and Ruether Avenue just before 8 a.m. when he was hit, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The Metrolink engineer operating the train Friday morning told authorities he honked the horn multiple times to warn the pedestrian. The man kept his head down, didn’t look up and continued walking despite the warning, authorities said.
“He was crossing at the wrong time,” said sheriff’s Lt. Rob Hahnlein.
About 135 people were aboard the Metrolink train, authorities said. No one was injured in the crash.
The dead man has not yet been identified.
A truck driver was injured at the same stop in 1997, according to a data analysis by the Los Angeles Times.
