West Hollywood announces street closures for L.A. Pride

Numerous roads in West Hollywood will be closed starting later this week for the L.A. Pride Parade and festival.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend the parade, which kicks off at 11 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Santa Monica and Crescent Heights boulevards. The parade will travel west on Santa Monica, ending at Robertson Boulevard.

According to the city of West Hollywood:

—San Vicente Boulevard will be closed between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue from 7 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Monday.

—Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed between Fairfax Avenue and Doheny Drive from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

—Streets one block north and south of Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed between Fairfax Avenue and La Peer Drive from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

—Crescent Heights Boulevard will be closed between Romaine Street and Fountain Avenue from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

In addition to the street closures, the West Hollywood Library will close at 7 p.m. Wednesday until 11 a.m. Monday. West Hollywood Park closed Monday night and will remain closed until 6 p.m. June 11.

City officials warn of heavy traffic, congestion and lack of parking Sunday. The city will not enforce permit parking from 4 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday. Metered parking will not be enforced Sunday.

The 1.9-square-mile city borders Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, which have their own parking restrictions that must be observed, officials said.

The city will offer a free shuttle bus, called the Pride Ride, throughout the weekend. Bus stops and schedules are posted online.
