A woman killed in a head-on collision on Sunset Boulevard in Westwood on Saturday evening has been identified.
The victim is Sheri Myers Olmon, 54, of Santa Monica, said Lt. Fred Corral, of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.
Olmon was killed when the driver of a blue 2013 Maserati headed westbound in the 10200 block of Sunset slammed into her eastbound blue 2008 Honda Fit about 6:10 p.m., according to Officer S. Yoon of the Los Angeles Police Department. Olmon was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other passengers in the Honda were injured and transported to UCLA Medical Center, Yoon said. Their condition was not known.
The driver of the Maserati was not taken into custody, Officer James Stoughton said Saturday night.
Another fatality was reported in the same block of Sunset last February. The brother of actress Salma Hayek lost control of his 2006 Ford GT, crossed into opposing lanes and collided with a Toyota Tacoma pickup.
A male passenger in the Ford, Ian Cuttler, 43, a Grammy Award-winning art director and photographer, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sami Hayek suffered several broken ribs and facial lacerations, and the pickup driver broke his foot, officials said.
Police said that this particular stretch of Sunset in and around Bel-Air is full of hills and curves and is known for speeding.
