Red flag warning to expire Monday morning as winds die down
A red flag warning is likely to expire Monday morning as winds die down and humidity levels rise across the Los Angeles region, forecasters say.
The red flag warning, which is issued when weather conditions create fire danger, will be allowed to expire around 10 a.m., National Weather Service weather specialist Stuart Seto said.
The winds on Monday will be around 10 to 15 mph — “way down from what it was,” Seto said. But because the offshore flow will remain, officials are still cautioning the public to exercise caution related to the wind.
“It’s still going to be kind of dry,” he said, adding that temperatures will stay above normal most of this week.
High temperatures will remain in the mid-70s most of the week, above normal highs in the upper 60s, Seto said. Temperatures should peak around 79 degrees downtown Thursday with breezy winds, he said. Then a cooling trend will take hold over the weekend.
Through Sunday, Seto said the average high temperature for the month was 70.7 degrees – three degrees above normal for December.
