Readers React: The sham DWP union nonprofit audit

To the editor: Why does City Hall continue making concessions to the Department of Water and Power labor union? (“L.A. officials will get to see books of DWP nonprofits,” Nov. 12)
As a former certified public accountant, I can say that no self-respecting CPA would ever make an auditing deal that doesn’t allow the city to look back before 2010 or to make and distribute copies of the records of two nonprofits affiliated with the DWP. This arrangement smacks of corruption.
Not being able to look back before 2010 is truly obnoxious. An agreement or contract generating payments even to today could be corrupt or illegal, but we would never know.
