Another successful season has come to a close for the Laguna Beach High girls’ soccer team, but not after the Breakers fought through to the very end of a first-round road match in the CIF Southern Section playoffs.

Laguna, which defeated Redlands Arrowhead Christian 3-1 in a Division 5 wild-card match Feb. 17, traveled Feb. 19 for a first-round matchup at Hemet Tahquitz. The Breakers and Titans were deadlocked 1-1 through regulation but the Titans advanced to Round 2 by virtue of a 4-3 score on penalty kicks.

Freshman forward Blake Turner scored off an assist from sophomore forward Shea Skenderian in regulation for Laguna. Converting scores, in order, in the penalty kicks phase were junior midfielder Christine Johnson, junior forward Greer Jacobs, and Skenderian.
