The Ocean View Little League Major Division Yankees managed only six runs in their first three games, but their bats came to life Saturday in an 18-7 romp past the Rays.

The Yankees’ offense surge was led by Jake Alvarez who blasted a two-run home run in the top of the first inning to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead. Alvarez doubled later in the game to drive in another run. The homer was the first of the season for Alvarez, tying him with A.J. Hurtado for the team lead in the department.

Every Yankee managed to get at least one hit including an RBI-double by Jack Pirooz in the second inning that extended the lead to 4-0 . Several Yankees, including Matt Jones, scored twice.

The Yankees’ pitching once again was strong. Daniel Kotkosky started the game and only allowed two hits and one unearned run in three innings.

With the win, the Yankees improved to 3-1. The loss dropped the Rays to 2-2.
