‘Floyd Mayweather’s Punch-Out!!’ predicts Mayweather-Pacquiao result
Anyone who was expecting a Rocky-style slugfest during Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s victory over Manny Pacquiao is probably wishing they hadn’t shelled out $100 to watch the fight.
As expected, Mayweather put on another tactical showing in his victory by unanimous decision, a result many people in the boxing community were predicting would happen in the weeks leading up to the fight.
Even the folks over at the YouTube channel Noober Goober Gaming knew the Mayweather-Pacquiao matchup would be pretty dull. On the morning before the fight, the channel posted a video that not only brought back memories of one of the greatest video games in history, but also predicted how the fight would unfold.
In a spoof of the now legendary “Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!” video game that debuted on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, “Floyd Mayweather’s Punch-Out!!” uses a good mix of eight-bit graphics and humor to convey what many fans felt after watching the most hyped boxing match of the century so far.
The video accurately predicts the fight would last 12 rounds, that Mayweather would use his trademark defensive prowess to thwart Pacquiao and that it would be boring.
