In latest QB transfer, Jaylen Henderson leaves Narbonne for Chaminade
Chaminade football coach Ed Croson said there were at least 10 quarterbacks who “inquired” about coming to the West Hills campus in the annual musical chairs of quarterbacks looking for playing time in the off season.
The one who showed up this week was sophomore Jaylen Henderson, who started five games last season for City Section champion Narbonne until sophomore Jake Garcia, a transfer from Long Beach Poly, became eligible.
Now Henderson, who passed for more than 1,300 yards, will compete with senior Jack Costello and sophomore-to-be Tyler Voss for the Chaminade starting position.
There figures to be other transfers coming during the spring and summer. There’s a strong group of incoming freshmen quarterbacks who could shake things up. Private schools are about to send out their letters of acceptance for incoming freshmen.
Quarterbacks have shown up at Calabasas, Villa Park and Oaks Christian, among others.
