Tom Meusborn, the most successful baseball coach in City Section history, is returning as head coach at Chatsworth High.

Meusborn has resigned as an assistant coach at Cal State Northridge after one season.

“It was difficult, but I missed running my own program,” Meusborn said.

He resigned at Chatsworth after the 2013 season with a 619-127-4 record, eight City Section Division I championships and 19 West Valley League titles in 24 years as coach. He continued to teach at Chatsworth while working at Northridge.

“It was a great experience,” he said of coaching at Northridge. “I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m excited to be back.”

His return comes at a time when the Chancellors should be loaded in the pitching department with the return of standouts Tommy Palomera, Josh Garcia and John Cashman.

Curtis Scott coached the team last season, then resigned to return to Moorpark College as an assistant.

“I think it makes the rivalry between Chatsworth and El Camino Real back to where it was,” El Camino Real Coach Josh Lienhard said. “He brings another dimension to the program. I don’t think it missed a beat, but with him at the reigns, it makes it a little bit better.”
