Boys’ basketball: Chaminade gets 63-59 win over Crespi in Mission League

First-year Coach Jon Palarz of Chaminade is getting some traction out of his young team. The Eagles improved to 15-8 overall and 4-3 in the Mission League with a 63-59 victory over Crespi on Wednesday night.

Senior Dayton Doucette scored 19 points, sophomore KJ Martin had 16 points and sophomore Dennis Flowers added 11. Crespi’s Taj Regans returned from an injury to contribute four points.

Harvard-Westlake is in second place in the Mission afrer a 59-51 win over St. Francis. Johnny Juzang scored 15 points for the Wolverines. Andre Henry had 14 points for St. Francis.

In the Trinity League, Mater Dei improved to 22-1 after a 67-49 road victory over St. John Bosco. Spencer Freedman led a third-quarter surge. He finished with 13 points. Miles Brookins had 16 points. Makani Whiteside had 17 for the Braves. JSerra defeated Servite, 47-43. Santa Margarita defeated Orange Lutheran, 81-57. Jake Kyman scored 18 points.

Brycen Wight scored 25 points in Oxnard’s 60-41 win over Rio Mesa.

Santa Monica gave Coach James Hecht his 400th career victory in a 57-43 win over El Segundo. De’sean Allen-Eikens scored 11 points.

La Canada defeated South Pasadena, 89-62. Sean Estes had 23 points and Patric Panoosi 22 points.

Ezekiel Richards finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds and Riley Battin added 19 points and 19 rebounds in Oak Park’s 84-50 win over Simi Valley.

In the City Section, Van Nuys continues to show that it’s the top team in Division III after a 79-36 win over Reseda. Anthony Daniels had 23 points and Tyree Winborn 22. Sylmar defeated Kennedy, 61-53. Dayquan Williams had 21 points.

In the Western League, Westchester defeated Palisades, 58-29. Luis Rodriguez had 18 points and Harold Moore 17. Jamal Hartwell had 18 points and Robert McRae 16 as Fairfax defeated Hamilton, 53-36. University defeated Venice, 62-42. Jude Agbasi had 16 points and 13 rebounds.

In the West Valley League, Birmingham defeated Chatsworth, 92-55. Devante Doutrive finished with 31 points. Deschon Winston had 20 points and 10 steals. Taft defeated Granada Hills, 60-44. Onaje Higgins had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Highlanders. El Camino Real defeated Cleveland, 76-37. Emmanuel Egun had 17 points.

In the Coliseum League, Crenshaw defeated Locke, 75-33. Aaron Johnson led the way with 17 points. Jaelen Stringer scored 21 points in Fremont’s 65-27 win over Hawkins.

In the East Valley League, Grant defeated North Hollywood, 68-44. Avo Danielian had 26 points.

In the Eastern League, South Gate defeated Bell, 60-32, to improve to 6-0 in league. Lawrence Blankenship scored 18 points.

Pasadena Poly defeated Flintridge Prep, 64-54. Jake Althouse had 19 points for Flintridge Prep.
