Football: Get ready for offensive shootout at Newbury Park on Friday

Share

Bring your food, your water bottle and don’t leave your seat for one minute on Friday night if you’re planning to attend the Calabasas at Newbury Park game.

It will be offensive fireworks from beginning to end.

Oklahoma and Nebraska fans, who are rivals, can watch their future quarterbacks do battle. Cameron Rising of Newbury Park, a junior, is headed to Oklahoma. Tristan Gebbia of Calabasas, a senior, is headed to Nebraska. He’s going to reach 10,000 yards passing in his career.

Newbury Park (5-2) tries to outscore opponents. It has given up 44, 40, 56 and 63 points in games this season. Calabasas (7-0) can put up the points quickly with Darnay Holmes around to make big plays.

It’s the Camino League opener and the winner figures to be league champion.

Feel sympathy for the defensive coordinators who are going to be a little nervous during the game.
