Football: Pressure is on Mission League quarterbacks

Share

The Mission League is considered wide open at the moment, and it could come down to the play at quarterback. Many of the schools are trying out new QBs.

The featured game this week has Alemany (1-0) at Crespi (0-0).

Alemany has been getting strong play from Miles Bryant, a transfer from St. Francis. He has passed for 972 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Crespi is using a two-quarterback rotation that features junior Hamish McClure and sophomore Darius Perrantes.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (0-1) is hosting Bishop Amat (0-1). Both schools have new quarterbacks. Sophomore Blake Archuleta is making steady progress for Bishop Amat. Notre Dame is going with junior Erik Zimmerman.

Loyola (1-0) is at Gardena Serra (1-0). Both teams have veteran quarterbacks. Sean O’Malley has been playing very well in recent weeks for Loyola. Jalani Eason, a backup last season, has been an effective running threat for Serra while trying to improve his consistency as a passer.
