Football: Wisconsin study indicates concussions drop when limiting practice time
- Share via
Findings from the University of Wisconsin indicate that less contact time in practice may reduce football-related concussions.
A total of 67 prep players sustained concussions in 2014 when practice restrictions were initiated as compared to 206 combined in 2012-13, according to the study.
In 2014, Wisconsin teams were allowed 60 minutes of contact per week from week three of the season until the end.
That is more retrictive rules than in California, which allows 90 minutes per week in the first year of practice restrictions this season.
