Swimming: Loyola wins Division 1 championship; Grant Shouts sets two national records
Loyola cruised to the Southern Section Division 1 championship in boys’ swimming on Saturday night.
The Cubs had too much depth. Among the individual winners was junior Sean Lee, who won the 200 IM in 1:48.15.
Stanford-bound Grant Shoults of Santa Margarita set a national record in the 500 freestyle, winning in 4:12.87. He also set a national record in the 200 freestyle in 1:33.26.
Santa Margarita won the girls’ Division 1 title.
Sophomore Samantha Shelton won the 200 freestyle in 1:45.06. She also won the 100 butterfly in 53.72.
Katherine Wagner of Alemany won the 100 freestyle and and 50 freestyle.
