Who’s Hot: Irvine Northwood cut Corona del Mar down to size with a 25-18, 27-25, 25-21 sweep last week. Lindsay Macias had 14 kills in the victory, which gave Northwood sole possession of first place in the Pacific Coast League. It was Northwood’s first victory over Corona del Mar and ended the Sea Kings’ 15-match league winning streak.

Player to Watch: Cori Dayton, an outside hitter for Mission Viejo, recorded 29 kills last week in a 25-20, 25-18, 24-26, 25-14 South Coast League victory over Lake Forest El Toro. The victory, coupled with Dana Point Dana Hills’ victory over previously unbeaten Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley, kept the South Coast League a three-team race between Mission Viejo, Dana Hills and Capistrano Valley.

Match of the Week: Anaheim Esperanza at Huntington Beach Edison, tonight, 6. An Edison victory puts it in the driver’s seat for the Sunset League title. The Chargers set up the showdown last week by beating Los Alamitos for the second time this season. Esperanza defeated Edison in the first round of league play. The Aztecs’ only league loss was to Los Alamitos, a team they face Tuesday.
