Report: Tim Tebow to sign with Patriots

Share

It’s a good thing Tim Tebow didn’t agree to a season in the arena leagues.

Tebow will sign with the New England Patriots just in time for Tuesday’s mandatory minicamp, ESPN is reporting.

He will reunite with Patriots offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Josh McDaniels, who was the coach of the Denver Broncos when the team traded up to select Tebow with the 25th pick in the 2010 NFL draft.

When the New York Jets traded a fourth- and sixth-round pick for Tebow last season, it created a quarterback controversy that loomed over the team throughout the season as starting quarterback Mark Sanchez struggled.

It’s fair to assume that won’t be the case in New England.

Tebow will likely begin camp as the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart behind Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett, and there is a chance he won’t make the final cut to remain on the roster when the Patriots open the season in Buffalo on Sept. 8.

But, still, Tebowmania is sure to be in full effect for the next 24-48 hours.
