Best of the September call-ups:

Corey Seager, Dodgers: The organization’s consensus No. 1 prospect, Seager can play shortstop and third base, giving the Dodgers the luxury of resting aging shortstop Jimmy Rollins and injured third baseman Justin Turner down the stretch. In his big league debut Thursday, Seager had two hits, scored two runs and drove in two.

Javier Baez, Chicago Cubs: After struggling during a two-month stay in Chicago last season, the Cubs’ top prospect was in triple A before being recalled Sept. 1. He played three infield positions in his first two starts.

Hector Olivera, Atlanta Braves: The Dodgers let Olivera, a Cuban defector with a high ceiling, go in the July trade that landed pitchers Jim Johnson, Luis Avilan and Alex Wood in Los Angeles. The Braves are getting a look at what they got, promoting Olivera after a minor league season in which he hit .272 in 35 games spread over six leagues.

Andrew Bailey, New York Yankees: Bailey, who had 75 saves in three years with the Oakland Athletics, sat out last season because of shoulder surgery. The Yankees called him up last week to help set up closer Andrew Miller.

Justin Morneau, Colorado Rockies: Roster expansion allowed the Rockies to bring back Morneau, a four-time All-Star whose career appeared over when he went on the disabled list in May after suffering a concussion and a cervical strain.
