Darxia Morris’ career-high 22 points lead UCLA women to win

WOMEN

No. 8 UCLA 65, at California 56: Darxia Morris had a career-high 22 points and Jasmine Dixon shook off some early shooting struggles to make two key baskets down the stretch for the Bruins (16-2, 6-1 Pac-10), who committed 16 turnovers and nearly blew a 14-point lead in the second half. DeNesha Stallworth scored 22 points for Cal (11-7, 3-4).

at No. 4 Stanford 95, USC 51: Jeanette Pohlen scored 21 points and dished out a season-high 12 assists as the Cardinal (16-2, 7-0 Pac-10) won its 10th in row and its 56th straight home game at Maples Pavilion. Briana Gilbreath scored 17 points to become the 22nd women’s player to reach 1,000 career points for the Trojans (12-6, 4-3).

MEN

at Cal State Fullerton 63, UC Santa Barbara 58: Orane Chin scored 18 points and Devon Peltier had 14 as the Titans (8-12, 4-4 Big West) won their third in a row at home. James Nunnally had 19 points and Orlando Johnson had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Gauchos, preseason favorites in the Big West, who fell to 10-7 and 3-3.

at UC Irvine 86, Long Beach State 76: Mike Wilder had 24 points and 13 rebounds for the Anteaters (10-10, 3-3 Big West) and the 49ers (11-10, 6-2) made only four of 23 (17.3%) from three-point range.

at Cal State Northridge 80, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 65: Vinnie McGhee scored 20 points and Lenny Daniel had 18 as the Matadors (6-13, 3-3 Big West) pulled away. Shawn Lewis led the Mustangs (8-10, 4-3) with a season-high 24 points.

at San Diego 76, Cal State Bakersfield 65: The Toreros (4-16) shot a school-record 69% to end a six-game losing streak and defeat a Division I opponent for only the second time this season. The Roadrunners (8-11) lost their sixth in a row.

at Pepperdine 78, Loyola Marymount 75: Lorne Jackson scored 24 points, including the go-ahead free throw, to lead the Waves (8-14, 2-3 West Coast). The lead changed hands 20 times in the second half and 24 times overall. Ashley Hamilton led the Lions (8-11, 1-4) with 19 points.
