Andrew Luck certainly acts like the next Peyton Manning

If all goes as expected, Andrew Luck will officially begin his career with the Indianapolis Colts in eight days.

Luck frequently has been compared to Peyton Manning, and a just-released e-book about the Stanford quarterback helps hammer home that point. The Kindle book “Andrew Luck: Inside the Making of a No. 1 Pick” is available on Amazon.com and written by longtime Cardinal beat writer Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News.

In it, Wilner reveals how Luck was so meticulous about critiquing himself in college that he wouldn’t leave practice before sitting down to study the video shot of him that day.

Wilner writes: “‘On Wednesday, he wouldn’t even shower after practice. He’d come up to the football office and get an extra script because he was going to watch [a tape of] practice by himself, even though we were going to watch it the next day,’ Stanford coach David Shaw explained. ‘He didn’t want to go to bed Wednesday night without seeing the last practice, grading himself, seeing what looked good and what didn’t look good. And it was not mandatory. But that was him. He had to see it and he had to know it because he was so emotionally invested in what we were doing. Once he felt comfortable, he’d go do his homework or write a paper and he’d be able to sleep at night. But he had to watch that film.’ ”
