Watch a nervous Shaun White get a haircut

Share

Shaun White is fearless, right?

Just look at some of those tricks he’s pulled off in becoming a skating and snowboarding legend. Most people would be too terrified to even try some of the stunts that helped him win two Olympic golds and 22 X Games medals.

But there’s one thing that apparently sends chills down his spine, something most people do on a regular basis.

Getting a haircut.

Maybe it’s because he likely hasn’t had one in a long, long time, as evidenced by the flowing red hair that has made him instantly recognizable pretty much everywhere he goes.

But White recently summoned up the courage to chop most of it off for the Locks of Love organization, which provides hairpieces for children suffering from long-term medical hair loss.

He posted a video of the whole process Tuesday.

“Been thinking about this one for a while,” he says while riding to the barber shop, sounding like he’s still trying to convince himself. “Ummm, but it’s for a good cause, so I wanna do it.”

He adds: “Somebody needs it more than I do.”

Once there, he tells the barber, “I’m a little nervous, you gotta go easy on me.”

At one point after the cutting has already commenced, White jokingly (?) tells the barber to stop.

But in the end, White seems pleased with the results.

“I like it,” he says while looking in the mirror for the first time. “It’s good.”
