Clippers break franchise record with 12th straight win

Another night at Staples Center, another double-digit win; it’s just what L.A. fans expected heading into this season — just not from the Clippers.

Chris Paul and Co. won their 12th straight game on Friday, breaking the franchise record for consecutive wins. Paul finished with 24 points, 13 assists and five steals as the Clippers defeated the Kings, 97-85.

Blake Griffin added 21 points and 13 rebounds as the team broke the franchise mark set by the 1974-75 Buffalo Braves.

The Clippers built a big lead in the first half and spent the rest of the game exchanging runs with the Kings. L.A. has won each of its last six home games by double digits.

They now share the longest winning streak in the NBA so far this season, matching the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 12-game run, which ended Thursday night with a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

During the streak, the Clippers have defeated opponents by an average of 14.8 points, with only four games finishing within single digits.

L.A. looks to extend the streak as they head to Phoenix to take on the Suns on Sunday night. The Clippers topped the Suns, 117-99, on Dec. 8, the only time the two teams have met this season.
