Watch Blake Griffin initiate rookie Jared Sullinger [Video]
OK, this wasn’t quite Mozgov Part II.
How about Mozgov-ian? Celtics rookie forward Jared Sullinger gamely tried to prevent a Blake Griffin dunk with a hard foul, receiving a flagrant foul 1 for his trouble in the third quarter of the latest Clippers’ victory.
For those with short memories, Griffin, in his rookie season, pretty much got on the NBA map with his signature dunk over a rookie center, Timofey Mozgov, then with the Knicks. The date? Nov. 20, 2010.
It made for some fun things to write about -- once it became clear Mozgov remained intact. (“New York Knick by trade, human piñata by night.”)
There was one difference. The Clippers lost that 2010 game to the Knicks. On Thursday, they crushed the Celtics, 106-77, pushing their winning streak to 15 games.
TNT’s Reggie Miller was duly impressed by Griffin ... and Sullinger.
“Look at the elevation here,” he said. “That’s a good foul there by Jared Sullinger. I don’t know why they [the officials] are going to the monitor .... Look at Blake Griffin as he gathered up.”
