New England Coach Bill Belichick is fined $500,000 and the Patriots are fined $250,000 and forfeit a first-round draft pick for taping the signals of the New York Jets’ defensive coaches during a game on Sept. 9, 2007.

HORNUNG-KARRAS

Green Bay Packers star running back Paul Hornung, the 1961 NFL most valuable player, and Detroit Lions All-Pro defensive tackle Alex Karras are suspended for the 1963 season for betting on NFL games and associating with gamblers. Hornung was said to have bet up to $500 on NFL games, Karras $50 to $100.

PACMAN JONES

Tennessee’s Adam “Pacman” Jones is suspended for the 2007 season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Jones had been interviewed by police in connection with 10 incidents, the biggest coming in Las Vegas during the NBA All-Star weekend when Jones was involved in a fight and shooting at a strip club that paralyzed one man.

SAL ALOSI

New York Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi was suspended indefinitely by the team for instructing players to stand in a wall on the sidelines and tripping Miami’s Nolan Carroll on a punt return in a Dec. 12, 2010 game.

TRAVIS JONES

New Orleans assistant defensive line coach Travis Jones is suspended 30 days during the 2010 season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy after he admitted his role in a real estate scam involving at least 40 people.

WADE WILSON

Dallas assistant coach Wade Wilson is suspended for five games during the 2007 season for violating NFL rules on using performance-enhancing drugs. Wilson was suspended for buying and using performance-enhancing substances. He was also fined $100,000.

CHUCK FAIRBANKS

New England coach Chuck Fairbanks was suspended for one game by the team during the 1978 season for accepting the head coaching position at the University of Colorado.
