USC, UCLA live: Some college football predictions

Join us today at 11:30 a.m. when Times UCLA writer Chris Foster, USC writer Gary Klein and national college football columnist Chris Dufresne give an update on the season in a live Google+ Hangout.

As Klein wrote earlier this week,

“USC Coach Lane Kiffin might not have the option of playing it safe Saturday at Arizona.

Wildcats quarterback Matt Scott, a fifth-year senior, has been running new Coach Rich Rodriguez‘s spread offense with precision. He leads the Pac-12 Conference and is fourth nationally in total offense for a team that has averaged 549 yards and 39 points a game.

Last week, Scott passed for four touchdowns and ran for one in Arizona’s 52-17 victory over Washington.

So, after a record-setting performance in an easy victory against lowly Colorado, USC quarterback Matt Barkley could find himself in a shootout at Tucson.”

As Foster wrote earlier this week:

“With the Bruins preparing for Saturday’s game at Arizona State, Coach Jim Mora said that he briefly talked to players about opportunities.

“This is a big one for us,” Mora said. “This is a big one for Arizona State. I think it has a lot of ramifications down the road.”

UCLA sits one game behind Arizona State and USC in the Pac-12 Conference South Division standings. The Bruins still have a game to play against the Trojans too.

“Everything we have worked for all year is kind of coming to fruition,” linebacker Anthony Barr said. “It’s right there in front of us. We just have to go take it. No one is going to give it to us and no one expects us to take it.”

UCLA has not won a conference title and gone to the Rose Bowl game since 1998, a 13-season drought that is the longest in the program’s history.”
