Point guard Pe’Shon Howard, who had been at Maryland three years, has transferred to USC and will be immediately eligible after being granted a hardship waiver so he can be near a sick relative. Howard is from Los Angeles though he never played in high school near home.

Howard, 6 feet 2 and 195 pounds, spent his freshman year of high school at St. Edward in Cleveland followed by sophomore, junior and senior years at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va.

He started 11 games and averaged 6.5 points for Maryland last season. He will be a senior and have one season to play for USC.
