Lindsey Vonn makes her flight, skis fast in France
It was just a few days ago that Lindsey Vonn tweeted about sprinting through the airport with a bag full of ski boots.
“Europe here I come!” she wrote.
Now that she has reached Val d’Isere, the American ski star is still moving at top speed.
Vonn recorded the second-fastest downhill training run on the French mountain Thursday, further evidence that she is ready to comeback from injury and compete at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Only Dominique Gisin of Switzerland skied faster, outpacing Vonn by .04 seconds, the Associated Press reported.
The downhill race is scheduled for Saturday and will be followed by the giant slalom on Sunday.
Vonn is recovering from off-season knee surgery and a more-recent accident in which she partially tore a reconstructed ligament. She has won five World Cup races and two world championship golds at Val d’Isere.
